Auggie´s Classroom

Walt : identify and use the perimeter rule to calculate the size of Auggie’s classroom.

My Reflection

I was able to measure the perimeter of Auggie´s classroom and add all my measurements together.
I thought this was tricky because it was tricky to use the decimals and find out what it all added up to.
Next time I will want to learn a different and harder way to do Perimeters e.g. Different shapes.

Ghost Maths

WALT:  Use a  calculator with accuracy

I was able to use a calculator to add all of the equipment and clothing together from the Rebel Sports website . Also it was very hard to get exactly two thousand but at the end i got to 2000. I thought this was a very good maths task because when you get older you will be doing this all the time.

Now I will try and use more expensive equipment and clothing instead of buying lots of different cheap stuff . Also I plan to use this when I'm older.

I was able to use these strategies to solve all of my problems.

Statistics

 

Walt : display data on histogram, tally chart

• Walt : interpret information from histograms and tally marks eg. medium, mode, range, mean

I was able to put the information from the class scores onto a histogram and tally chart

• The range for the first name scores was from 4-20
• The range for the last name scores was from  2-21
• The range for the full name scores was from 9-31
• The mode for the first name scores was 8 
• The mode for the last name scores was 7 
• The mode for the full name scores is 22
• The medium for the first name scores is 10
• The medium for the last name scores is 9.5
• The medium for the full name scores is 21
• The mean is when you add all of the number or data together, then you count how many numbers you have and then divide it by that number and that is your answer.
• The median  is when you put the numbers in order from least to great then you find the middle number  and then that is  your answer, but if you have two numbers in the middle you add those together and then divide it by two then that is your answer.
• The mode is the score that appears the most times.

I found this tricky  because we had to keep repeating again and again because we keep pushing the wrong number on the calculator  so i had a buddy to help me.
Next time i want to do this again because it was fun .

I would have liked to do something harder because this was too easy for me.
Now i plan to do something harder then this task we did today because it was to easy.

Measurement Scavenger hunt

Today we were learning how to use measurements, estimating and the difference

I thought this was tricky because it was hard to guess the right object to go with the measurements

Next time i want to do this again for another try.

Fractions

What i did

so i had 3/4 of 16 = i don't know so you want to cut your circle into quarters. then you want to get two different color 4 too. now you have the 3  and you want two put 3 colored 4 in your circle
and the rest with the  other color and you  add how much 3/4 is and its 12 because
3 x 4= 12

My Reflection

It was easy when i started but it got harder and harder but then i got it.
Next time i want to do this again because it was fun to do fractions of a whole.

It was easy because Me and Emma had to figure  out the Question and then had to put all the things we

need on the colored paper like the + the - and the numbers . after that we went on the stop motion app and take photos . The next time i do this i want to do time tables

Today we were learning to try and gust how many dots or something else.
I thought this was easy because all you had to do is put some pitchers on a slide and then  on the next slide you put some answers and working out on.
Next time i want to do something else that is harder then this

Maths Word Problems

WALT: find the key info in a question

Kimberly bought stamps at the post office. Some of the stamps had a snowflake design, some had a truck design, and some had a rose design. Kimberly bought 3 snowflake stamps. She bought 5 more truck stamps than snowflake stamps, and 6 fewer rose stamps than truck stamps. How many stamps did Kimberly buy in all?

snow flakes = 3
trucks = 8
rose = 2

5 more trucks than snow flakes
6 less rose than trucks

She brought 3 snow flakes stamps and
there is 5 more truck stamps than snow flakes 5+3=8 so there are 8 truck stamps. 

She brought 8 truck stamps and there is 6 less rose stamps than trucks 8-6=2 so there are 2 rose stamps.

8+2=10+3=13

total:13

My Refection
I was learning to use word problems.
It was easy because all you had to do is read the word problem and put the words you need like she brought 3 snow flake stamps and because it said there is 5 more truck stamps than snow flake stamps. Next time i want to do and higher level word problem then this.

Probability with Yahtzee

I was learning about probability.  We had to play the game Yahtzee and talk about which combinations were most likely and least likely. I thought it was going to be hard but it was a bit easy for me. My Next step is to learn different Probability.

Fractions

I was learning to learn our fraction so they would give us some fractions

and we had to put the fraction with the right fraction pitchers.

It was easy to do these fractions because i know

some of my fractions .

                                 I have been learning to round numbers to the nearest 10 and 100.
                     I found this easy because i have been practicing my rounding in my spare time.  My next step is to round bigger numbers.

I have been learning to count on from the highest numbers.  I used this strategy to solve this puzzle.  I found this easy because it was easy to count on.  My next step is to use strategies like making ten and using doubles to solve addition problems.
